Thank you, Fiona, for sharing your frank and touching KD story. I've just been diagnosed - Dr. came in and said "you have KD - you can find out about it on the internet - see you in three weeks." His mannerisms are eerily similar to what you described your Dr. D being. Needless to say, I'm getting a second opinion with a hand surgeon next week. I could totally relate to your frustrations. I'm hoping that at least with this next doctor I won't leave angrier and more frustrated than when I went in. LOL! Thanks again, Toni
I'm sorry to hear of your diagnosis and I sincerely hope you find a compassionate, competent doctor and/or surgeon. They are rarer than I realized! Take good care.
FYI: I've finally organized & compiled my "KD story", which has constituted my last 19 blog posts. My apologies for going on at length. Here it is - in its complete thumbnail/readable glory, along with its fab playlist. Hopefully, I am closing a chapter & embarking on a new adventure!
I must also thank those not properly acknowledged in my account: my Yahoo! support group & Keith, its *expert* in residence; Fiona Peters, acupuncturist extraordinaire, whose deep compassion, unending patience, and very sharp needles helped mitigate my pain and emotional anguish in the early stages of my diagnosis; my former GP, Dr. Rosenthal, for her perservance; my current GP, Dr. Peter Innes, and his tenacious MOA, Tracey; of course, my friends and family, who tolerated me daily, and, eventually, just crawled into bed with me when there was nothing left to do but rest and heal.
Many people have contacted me since I started writing my story and I am so deeply humbled by their experiences and incredibly positive outlooks. All we have is each other and that is a great deal.
This story is dedicated to my husband, Eric, and to Natalie.
